Entrepreneurial learning in higher education
【演講大綱 Speech Abstract】
Entrepreneurial learning is increasingly popular and stressed in vocational education by universities because research has suggested that entrepreneurial mindset and skills can be learned. Entrepreneurial learning has been internationally prevailing among many college students who actively start their own businesses in global markets. Understanding entrepreneurial learning helps equip individuals with essential skills to deal with ever-evolving challenges and create value for society. Entrepreneurial learning requires entrepreneurial engagement that represents affective-motivational involvement for exploiting potential learning opportunities. Specifically, entrepreneurial engagement is critical because it enables individuals’ willingness and persistence to make efforts for learning entrepreneurial knowledge or skills. Social learning theory indicates that such motivation as entrepreneurial engagement is a key for learning attitude change and can facilitate attention, retention, and reproduction during the learning process (Cuillier, 2008) to eventually achieve entrepreneurial learning. The positive experiences brought by entrepreneurial engagement are likely to energize individuals for the continuance of entrepreneurial learning. Being engaged in entrepreneurial thoughts that makes individuals happy will eventually encourage them to strive for learning more, suggesting a positive relationship between entrepreneurial engagement and entrepreneurial learning.
