PMI Taiwan Chapter Partners with National Taichung University of Education
Advancing Project Management Education and Cultivating the Next Generation of “Neo-Confucian Entrepreneurs”
The Project Management Institute Taiwan Chapter (PMI-TW) joined hands with the College of Management at National Taichung University of Education (NTCU) to host the “New Confucian Entrepreneurs Hackathon on Project Management” on September 20–21, 2025, at the Yingcai Campus.
Led by PMI-TW project managers Jia-Yuan Shih (PMP) and Cadmus Lin (PMP), the two-day program integrated the five process groups and ten knowledge areas of project management. Students engaged in hands-on exercises such as WBS decomposition, Gantt chart scheduling, and risk matrix analysis, while also practicing agile approaches and Kanban workflow management. A special highlight of the workshop was the incorporation of Infinity AI applications, enabling students to experience firsthand how AI can support project planning, risk identification, and decision-making—opening a new perspective on digital transformation in project management.
This workshop not only enhanced students’ professional skills but also embodied PMI’s organizational culture values:
- Embrace Curiosity: Encouraging students to ask questions, challenge the unknown, and turn curiosity into a driving force for project advancement.
- Together We Can: Through group challenges and project presentations, students demonstrated teamwork, collaboration, and the spirit of co-creation that underpins project success.
At the same time, the event exemplified PMI’s global strategic priorities in action:
- Focus on the Profession: Delivering international project management standards through PMI-certified instructors.
- Activation Model: Leveraging the hackathon format as an innovative learning approach, combining theory with practice while connecting students to future forums and competitions.
- Internal Capability Building: Strengthening PMI-TW’s sustainable chapter model through cross-institutional collaboration, volunteer engagement, and digital integration.
To recognize outstanding performance, six students were selected based on four dimensions—learning commitment, professional interaction, teamwork contribution, and presentation excellence—and received awards for their achievements. All participants who completed the program were awarded a New Confucian Entrepreneurs Hackathon Certificate of Completion and will be given priority to join the PMI Taiwan Student Club, present at the PMI Taiwan International Congress (PTIC 2025), and even challenge the 2026 PMI Case Competition—further expanding their international exposure and practical project experience.
PMI-TW President Carol Lin emphasized: “Project management is a discipline that integrates theory and practice. Through the collaboration of academia, professional associations, and industry, we can effectively cultivate future leaders with agility and cross-domain capabilities. PMI Taiwan Chapter will continue to uphold global standards and values, driving innovation in education and partnerships to nurture project professionals who are ready to connect with the world.”
