PMI Component Awards Program Submission Deadline
Fast Approaching

Applications for the 2008 Component Awards are due to PMI on or before 30 April. The 2008 awards recognize 2007 achievements and PMI encourages your component to apply for as many awards as your activities will support. For more information or to submit an application, e-mail Anne Jenemann.

Component award winners will be recognized throughout PMI's 2008 North American Leadership Institute Meeting, which will be held in Denver, Colorado, USA, in October.

Online Component System (CS) Gives Leaders Access to Important Information

Have you been introduced to the online CS? It will make your role easier.

The PMI Component and Community Relations Department’s Component System (CS) is a Web-based resource that gives you access to important information about your component and a wide variety of information that is on record with PMI.

To support greater information flow between PMI and the component leaders, CS allows leaders to update the main contact information and officers of their component.

Initially, the system will allow chapter and college presidents and SIG chairs to edit the contact information and officers for their component. These two sections can be edited with edit permissions, while all other information is read-only. At their discretion, chapter and college presidents and SIG chairs can give edit rights to other officers of their component.

The Component System is also the central location for the DEP and real time reports, so in addition to accessing administrative information about your component, you can access the DEP and real time reports if you have access rights to the DEP.

You will find a complete user guide located in the Support/FAQ section of the CS.

Component System Sections are as follows:

  • Component Home
  • Component Contact Information — can be edited with permission rights
  • Business Records — including legal, financial, insurance and tax records, and dues specifications
  • Officers — information can be edited with permission rights
  • DEP — available to those with DEP permission
  • Charter Renewal
  • Support/FAQ

How to Access the Component System:

  1. Sign in to PMI.org
  2. Click on Get Involved in the top navigation bar
  3. From the menu bar on the left, click Components & Communities. The last item on this menu will be Component System/DEP.

If you have any questions or problems with the new CS, please contact Drew Ihlenfeld or Nina Aiuto.

Use Components Central to Display Information at

To participate, simply submit complete, current information about your component by using the Microsoft® Word flyer template in the Component Leadership Online Community, Current News section. Your information and materials must be submitted via the template so that PMI can mount a uniform, attractive and high-quality display. One flyer per component, please!

E-mail your completed template before Friday, 9 May to PMI Leadership Institute Associate Brianne Bangma.

Remember to Renew Your CAPM® Credential

For the first time, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM )  credential holders are coming up for renewal. The CAPM acknowledges the professional dedication of project team members who contribute to project teams from many different perspectives.

CAPM holders maintain their credential by studying the updates that have occurred over the last five years to A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—Third Edition. This assures their employers that they have stayed current in their knowledge of project management.

The CAPM holder must renew her/his credential during the fifth year of the cycle, before the credential expires. In order to renew, she/he must re-take and pass the examination.

PDUs are not required to maintain the CAPM credential.

Please ask your component members to contact PMI Customer Care with any questions, and to watch next week's issue of PMI® Community Post for more information, along with May's issue of PMI Today® .
