PMI Region 4 Leadership Meeting: No Chapter is an Island.

The Region 4 Leadership Meeting on historic Mackinac Island in Michigan, USA, was another step forward on the way to organizational excellence. Paying tribute to the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge that connects Michigan’s peninsulas, Mackinac Bridge Chief Engineer Kim Nowack inspired chapter leaders to think about building links between chapters.

Hosted by PMI Michigan Thumb Area Chapter and led by Region 4 Component Mentor Suketu Nagrecha, PMP, the meeting included informative discussions, breakout sessions and instructive presentations such as Community Development: Chapters with Branches, and Collaborations with Other Professional Organizations.

Chapters that excel in a particular area shared their best practices during the meeting. The PMI Western Michigan Chapter conducted a demonstration of their website. PMI Central Ohio Chapter, Inc. and PMI Delaware Valley Chapter outlined their process for volunteer recruitment and engagement. Many attendees offered their chapter’s resources towards achieving Region 4 goals.

Regional meeting Planning Committee Chair Jim Donovan, PMP of the PMI Michigan Thumb Chapter ensured that the event was well organized. Other members of the committee included Arun V. Das, PMP and Karen Lange, PMP both from the PMI Great Lakes Chapter; Jay Gassaway, PMP, PMI Delaware Valley Chapter and Willis Thomas, PMP, PMI Western Michigan Chapter.

For more information about the event or the region, please contact PMI Component Mentor Suketu Nagrecha.

Component insurance packages have been mailed.

Component insurance packages were sent on 29 June to all president, chairs and finance officers of PMI chartered components. Included in the package is important information on current and future component insurance coverage, summaries of insurance policies, an event insurance application, an important FAQ and insurance contact information.

If your component did not receive this important information or you have any questions regarding component insurance, please contact Component & Community Relations Coordinator Anne Jenemann.

An important reminder about component board elections.

Is your component currently conducting board elections? If so, then be sure to reference your component's bylaws and charter agreement for election guidelines.

All PMI components that have completed mid-year elections resulting in new officers and Data Exchange Program (DEP) recipients for 2007 must forward the information as soon as possible to PMI Component Relations Associate Nina Aiuto. PMI Global Operations Center will immediately record the information in our component database to ensure it will be available to the correct officers and DEP recipients. Please include the officers' terms (start and end dates), their PMI ID numbers and whether or not they are DEP recipients.

PMI NEWS

PMI refreshes its logo.

PMI has refreshed its logo and logo usage guidelines. PMI’s name is now aligned with the left edge of the globe element and the globe colors are solid; these slight changes from the prior version will be applied to all branded materials developed by PMI after 5 July.

Streamlining the visual expression of the logo and updating the logo usage guidelines will help to strengthen PMI’s brand identity. These actions result from a detailed analysis of our logo usage, a review of logo use by other global associations, and a study of related best practices.

Transition to use of the refreshed logo will be gradual and will not affect existing component logos. It may affect development of new component logos, and if so, we will let you know in proactive and timely manner.
